Afternoon Coding Session
The screen flickers with lines of code, each one dancing in the soft glow of my computer. Today’s project is an update for an old game I’ve been working on for weeks. The new feature involves a spinny ring challenge where you have to navigate through loops and jumps, collecting stars along the way.
I’ve been coding all afternoon, tweaking the variables to make sure everything runs smoothly. The rings swirl around in different patterns, making it tricky but fun. Each star collected adds a small boost or power-up, like faster speed or double jumps. I’ve been testing the levels on my phone, playing through them with a finger hovering just above the screen.
The music from the game plays softly in the background—some upbeat 90s tunes that make me feel nostalgic and pumped up. I remember playing this game as a kid and now I’m writing code for it again. It’s like time has looped, but in a good way.
I’ve been trying to add some new levels with tougher challenges, but they need to be just right so players don’t get too frustrated. There’s a balance between making the game exciting and not impossible. Sometimes when I hit a wall, I step away for a few minutes and come back refreshed. The air feels cool as it rushes past my open window, carrying the scent of rain from earlier today.
I’ve almost finished testing one set of levels and now I’m focusing on polishing the final touches. Maybe add a secret level or two with even more stars hidden in harder-to-reach spots. It’s satisfying to see the game come together like this, piece by piece.
As I hit save, my mind wanders to what could be next. More games? Or maybe I’ll try something completely different. For now, though, it feels good to finish up on this one and move onto coding some new features or even a whole new project. The screen flickers again with more lines of code ready for me to work through.
