The little red button on the game console clicks softly. It’s supposed to start the game, but nothing happens. I press it again and again, hoping for different results. The screen stays blank. The buttons on the controller are quiet too. They should be making clicking sounds like they do in cartoons when the good guy presses a magic button. Instead, they’re just smooth plastic. Maybe if I shake the controller harder, something will happen. But nope, nothing changes. The TV is still black and silent, waiting for its chance to come alive with colorful characters and exciting adventures.
