The Pixelated Parade

The screen flickers as I press the power button on my handheld game. A menu appears with colorful icons. I tap the “Adventure” icon and wait for the world to unfurl before me. A forest with tall trees greets me, each pixel perfectly placed. I move the joystick right; a small character strolls into view. He’s wearing a hat and carrying a stick. With a tap, he jumps high, almost touching a branch. A few more taps guide him through a maze of colorful blocks. He finds a key and opens a door to reveal a shiny treasure chest. I press the A button—click—and the chest pops open with a soft sound. The screen blinks and turns off.
