I stand in the hallway, listening to the big bell chime every fifteen minutes. It’s a loud, clear sound that echoes through the school. Sometimes it sounds like a giant is ringing a huge bell with all his might. Other times, it’s soft and mellow. Today, I notice it’s extra loud because of the wind outside, making it bounce like waves in my ears. The bell stops for just a moment before starting again, as if it’s playing a special tune. It makes me think about the day ending soon and all the fun things waiting at home—maybe some cookies in the oven or a new book to read.
