The Gameboy screen goes black as I press the power button. I slide the battery out carefully, checking if it’s still holding its charge. It looks just fine—flat and smooth, with that same green logo on top. But without electricity, the games are just boxes of plastic and buttons now. I try tapping the screen gently, hoping to wake it up, but nothing happens. The sound effects from last night’s game were so real; they filled my room like invisible music. Now it’s quiet again, just the hum of the TV in the next room. I put the Gameboy back where I found it—on the nightstand by my bed. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
