The New Super Mario Bros. U Launch Party
Inside the video game store, everything is in a flurry of activity. Shelves are lined with boxes labeled “New Super Mario Bros. U.” The sound of laughter and excited chatter fills the air as kids crowd around the demo stations. Bright lights from the TV screens flicker over the colorful game box art.
On one screen, Mario zips through the castle levels, his blue hat bobbing up and down. Bowser appears briefly, his giant claws reaching out, before Mario jumps onto his head and sends him flying into the distance. The crowd watches with bated breath as he lands safely on the ground, then resumes his journey.
At another station, Luigi tries a new power-up called the Super Cape. He leaps through the air, cape flapping behind him like wings. His shoes are a metallic silver now, and his eyes sparkle with newfound speed. “Wow!” someone exclaims, pointing at the screen.
Behind the counter, the store clerk hands out free posters to the children who wait in line. Each poster features Mario in mid-jump, his green cape streaming behind him. Some kids fold them carefully into their pockets while others rip theirs into tiny pieces and toss them aside.
In the back corner, a small group of boys have gathered around an older console. They sit cross-legged on the floor, controllers in hand, as they play together. One boy’s face scrunches up in concentration as he navigates through a tricky level. Another grins widely when Mario collects a star and flies through a spinning door.
The store is packed with energy and excitement as everyone waits for their turn to try out the new game.
