The New Super Mario Bros. U Launch Party
The screen’s bright glow fills the room as I press the big red start button on my Wii. The game loads fast, leaving a faint blue trail behind. The sound of the Mario theme song plays loud and clear through the speakers. Characters pop onto the screen—Luigi with his usual goofy grin, Mario in his classic red outfit, and Toad waving from the corner.
I select World 1-1 and jump straight into the game. Yoshi’s tongue swings across the screen, hitting Koopa Troopas that float by like little toy soldiers. I hear the satisfying click of the Wii Remote as I tilt it to move Mario right or left. The screen shows a colorful landscape with mushrooms popping up randomly, making me press A quickly to grab them.
As I run through the level, collecting coins and stomping on Goombas, the camera shifts to different angles, showing my progress from behind and from the side. I notice the clouds move smoothly above, and the sun glints off the water, making it sparkle like tiny diamonds.
When I reach the flagpole at the end of the level, Mario stands tall and triumphant. The screen flashes green for a moment before going back to the main menu. It’s perfect, every part just right—bright colors, smooth controls, and a fun challenge that keeps me playing on.
