The game pad hums with static as I press buttons. The screen flickers on, showing the main menu of “Zapville” but freezes after selecting the third level. I wiggle the controller, trying to get it unstuck. A red light blinks at me, annoyingly. I plug and unplug the cord, hoping for a fix. Nothing works. My fingers itch to play, but the pad just won’t cooperate. I tap the reset button, watching as the screen clears, only to fill with static again. The buzzing sound is loud now, driving me nuts. I take out my trusty screwdriver and start prying off the back of the controller, hoping to find a fix.
