I was playing with blocks on the carpet when a big machine in the corner of the room caught my eye. It’s as tall as me but quieter than my toys. Mummy said it can do magic stuff, like draw pictures without crayons or make music without instruments. But I don’t know why, all of a sudden, it makes funny noises and then goes quiet.

I tried to touch its buttons, but they’re stiff and cold. Then, I saw the grown-ups rushing around, pulling out wires and pressing big red switches. They seemed upset, and Mummy looked worried. Someone came over, yanked the plug from the wall, and the machine went dark like when all the lights turn off.

Now, it’s still, just a gray box with blinking lights that move slowly. I don’t understand why they were so upset about it stopping. Maybe it’s sleepy or sick? But then Mummy told me to be quiet because we had to work on something important. She said not to touch the machine again and put it behind a curtain.

I didn’t know what I did wrong, but now I’m curious. I want to see if I can make the lights stop blinking by touching its sides or pressing its buttons. But Mummy says no more today. So, I’ll wait until tomorrow to try again.
