I press the big red button on the game console. It makes a soft ping sound. I watch as the screen lights up bright and colorful. A car drives onto a racetrack. I move my finger to the left and right buttons, but the car doesn’t change direction. I try pressing harder—still nothing happens. The sound of the cars whizzing by on the track gets louder and louder until it’s so loud that it hurts my ears. Now the screen starts flickering like a bad TV show. I keep pressing the buttons, hoping something will work again. But all the cars go fast and crash into each other.
