Fixing Up My Old Laptop
I’ve been working on my old laptop for hours now. The screen was always a bit off-color, but today I finally got around to adjusting the brightness and contrast settings. It’s not perfect yet, but it looks much better than before. The keyboard still feels a bit sticky, though; there are these tiny crumbs stuck between some of the keys that I’ve been trying to remove with a toothpick.
I’m trying to make this old machine run faster too. I installed a new RAM module and a bigger hard drive. It’s not as fast as my friends’ newer laptops, but it’s getting better. The biggest challenge is the battery; it never holds a charge like it should anymore. But even with frequent charging stops, it still manages to get through most of my coding sessions.
My programming projects are running smoother now that I have more storage space and memory. I’ve been working on a text-based adventure game in Python. It’s funny how the code can turn into a story so easily. Every time I type in a new function or variable, it feels like creating magic out of logic and syntax.
I think part of why I’m so focused on this laptop is because it reminds me of when coding was just a hobby. Back then, my old computer was slow and prone to crashes, but it still let me build amazing things. Now that I’ve got more skills, I want to see how far I can push this machine.
Tonight, I plan to test out some game mechanics in the text adventure. Maybe add an extra room or two and a new item for the player to find. It’s exciting to think about what could happen next, even if it means tweaking lines of code until my fingers ache.
