The Whirring of the Game Console
The console sits on the coffee table, its red light blinking softly. I press the big green button, and it whirs to life with a loud hum. The screen lights up, showing colorful squares and shapes. A game starts automatically—blue rectangles jump around the screen. I use the little joystick to move them left and right, trying to catch the falling blocks before they reach the bottom. Sometimes they slip through my grasp, landing with a soft thud in the corners of the TV. The console makes a satisfying ping when I successfully clear a level. Each round ends with a final beep, and then it starts again, asking if I want to play another game.
