Backroads and Blue Skies
The sky stretches endlessly, a canvas of blue dotted with fleecy white clouds. The sun hangs low in the afternoon, casting everything into soft light that’s just warm enough to be pleasant. I’m sitting on my bike, pedaling slowly down a winding road lined with rows of apple trees heavy with fruit. Each tree seems to whisper secrets to the next, their leaves rustling gently.
My eyes wander to a patch of wildflowers in full bloom by the roadside. The vibrant colors are too much for me to ignore, and I pull over, dismounting my bike to explore. Daisies, dandelions, poppies—they all seem to nod hello as if aware of me admiring their beauty. I pinch a few handfuls, arranging them in small bunches.
I remember the first time I felt truly free on two wheels. It was last summer at this same spot, and it’s strange how things come full circle like this. Back then, my bike had only been used for school runs, but now it’s become an escape—a way to explore and get lost in thought.
My mind drifts back to the coding club meetings I’ve attended recently. The projects we work on seem endless—building virtual worlds, creating games with complex mechanics, and solving problems using logic and creativity. But today feels different; it’s as if all that complexity is just a backdrop for simpler moments of joy.
I take one last look at the flowers before tucking them into my back pocket. Time to hit the road again, but this time I’m taking in everything around me—the scent of fresh air, the gentle breeze against my skin, and the feeling of freedom under the open sky.
As I pedal on, I can’t help but smile. It’s these little moments that remind me why I love coding so much—not just for its challenges or the sense of accomplishment when a project comes together, but for the joy they bring outside of screens and wires.
