Debugging Code
Today’s been all about code. I woke up early, as always, but this morning felt different. Dad texted me last night saying he was really excited to see a new indie game that just came out. It’s got some cool programming challenges and puzzles in it. That’s why I’m here, trying to solve the first puzzle.
The screen is full of strange symbols and errors, like “SyntaxError” and “IndentationError.” I’ve been staring at this for hours now, and I feel pretty frustrated. The code isn’t working as expected, which means there’s something wrong with my logic or syntax. It feels like every line could be the culprit.
I tried to run it again, hoping maybe a fresh perspective would help. But no luck—same errors popping up. Ugh! I hate when that happens. Maybe if I take a break and come back to it later…
I remember when I first started coding, everything was so slow and painstaking. Now, it feels like I’m stuck in one of those old arcade games where the screen gets progressively harder as you play. Each level is tougher than the last.
Deciding to give up for now, I open up my browser and start scrolling through some tutorials on YouTube. Watching someone else’s code being written and fixed is like watching magic happen. They make it look so simple!
I think about how far I’ve come since that first day when Dad introduced me to coding. Back then, I thought it was just typing out commands. Now, I realize there’s a whole world of problem-solving involved.
After watching for a bit, I decide to go back to my project with renewed vigor. There’s something satisfying about debugging code—like solving a puzzle where every line is a piece. I’ll keep working on this until it works or until dinner time, whichever comes first.
Maybe by then, I’ll have figured out what’s wrong. Or maybe I’ll just need another break. Either way, coding keeps me busy and gives me something to focus on when everything else seems too hard.
