Space Station's New Astronauts

I’m in my room, sitting on the floor surrounded by books and drawings. The wall is covered with posters of spaceships and aliens from video games. Today, I’ve decided to focus on making a new drawing for the space station, but it’s taking longer than expected because I keep getting distracted by the sounds of kids outside. They’re arguing over who gets to be in charge when they build their own pretend space stations.

A kid next door, a boy with messy brown hair and freckles, is trying to convince his sister that the captain’s chair should always go in the middle. But she insists it must be near the front so she can see everything happening. It’s pretty silly, but I can’t help but smile at their enthusiasm.

I decide to add some of those kids into my drawing. They’re standing around a little model of a space station made from cardboard and string, looking like they’ve just discovered new planets. The model is decorated with stickers of stars and alien symbols. I grab some colored pencils and start coloring the space suits blue and silver, just like in the games.

Suddenly, there’s a knock on my window. My neighbor is outside, holding up his makeshift spaceship. He says he made it for me because he heard I’m making one too. I feel my heart warm at this gesture. We spend the next hour together, adding more details to both models. The kids are still arguing about who gets which astronaut, but now they’re including me in their plans.

It’s been a good day. Not only have I made progress on my drawing, but I’ve also learned that sometimes the best space adventures happen when you share them with others.
