The Gameboy hums quietly. I press the power button. The screen lights up, but then goes dark. I fiddle with the battery pack, making sure it’s tight. Still nothing. I shake the Gameboy, hoping a loose part will fix it. Nope. The screen stays dark, blank and unhelpful. I check to see if any games are inside, but they’re all safe where I put them last night. Sigh. Maybe it just needs new batteries.
