The Gameboy's Battery
I hold the Gameboy tightly in my small hands. The screen is bright against the dark room as I try to start Tetris again. It flickers, then goes dark. I push the buttons—A, B, Start—but nothing happens. A bead of sweat trickles down my forehead. I turn it over and look at the back where the battery should be. It’s loose. Carefully, I pull out the tiny silver coin and place it back in just right. The screen lights up again, but this time it stays on. I drop another piece into place, watching as it fits perfectly with the others to make a full row. Satisfaction fills me as the noise plays—the ding! Then, the next level starts.
