The screen on the Game Boy flickers weakly as I try to continue playing. The green light dims, then goes completely dark. No more jumping on frogs or collecting coins in Mario Land. The beeping sound is like a sad tune. I push buttons, hoping it will turn back on, but no luck. Maybe if I hold the battery tighter? Nope. It’s too late now. The game saves itself, even without power. I put the Game Boy down and look at my empty pack of AAA batteries. Time to find a new one.
